What speeds are available?

Speeds of our products vary from 256kbits/second to 2mbits/ second, downstream depending on the service chosen most suitable for your business needs.

What is a Contention Ratio and what impact does it have?

A contention ratio basically means the rate in which you share the available bandwidth with. The lower the contention, the less users are sharing the available bandwidth is. If you take the worst-case scenario for a user of 50:1 contention at 500kbits/s then it means you're sharing your 500kbs with 49 other users. If you are all downloading at the same time then you'll get 10kbs - about a quarter of the speed of a normal dial-up analogue modem. In reality, although there is noticeable difference between 50:1 and 20:1 contention for example, it is unlikely that your service will be affected by this magnitude.
